- Web Design, User Experience, Training1. Toca Percussion
The Project: Toca percussion wanted to redesign their corporate site. I was contracted to build table-based templates for each section of the site, so the Toca web designers could use them to produce pages for the website.I created the entire website architecture for Toca's main website. I built CSS-driven, accessible HTML templates aligned with the Toca brand. These templates are enhanced with a custom JavaScript framework. This project concluded with a client training session.
- User Experience, Interface Design2. Insight Email Templates
During my time at Insight, I was the lead designer for realigning our corporate email template.
The Goal:
1. Achieve more click-throughs to Insight.com than previous email templates.
2. Improve display in email clients over old email templates.
3. Update the branding of the email template with current styles. The Result:
1. Data reports 20x more click-throughs than the previous design.
2. The new design displays consistently across several major email clients.
3. The design and branding of the email template is aligned the with other Insight marketing vehicles.
- Web Design3. Phoenix Mars Mission
During my tenure at Terralever, I had the opportunity to work on the Phoenix Mars Mission website. The website is to showcase a mission to Mars, led by the University of Arizona as part of Nasa's "Scout Program."The website itself features news updates, an interactive image gallery, blog section, and educational information pertaining to the mission. A custom content management system for the University of Arizona scientists was built, allowing them to make updates to the site after the project was delivered. The project concluded with an on-site client training session at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
- Web Design4. Red Bull Events
During my tenure at Terralever, I worked on a number of hub sites for Red Bull events such as Flugtag and Soapbox. Red Bull used these sites to promote current events while providing an opportunity to learn about past events. Features such as online games and interactive photo galleries leverage rich media to encourage exploration of the site, resulting in more exposure to the Red Bull brand. These websites were built from dynamic templates built in C#, requiring a level of .NET understanding to manipulate. Maintaining these sites for Red Bull sometimes involved making live web updates as an event was happening.
- Web Design, Graphic Design5. Insight Microsites
At Insight, I was responsible for partner microsites, or portals for each brand. Insight microsites were co-branded with each partner's brand with Insight's brand. A hierarchy of call-to-actions (CTAs) was created for each microsite. Upon joining Insight, I walked into four months of backlogged microsite projects. Most of these had a quick turnaround once I began working on them.I later helped design the templates for these microsites, as well as the process and timeline for their updates.
- Interface Design, Web Design, User Experience6. Skeptical Monkey
This is a personal, Wordpress-driven blog which I run with my fiancé.I created and am responsible for every part of the website itself, including the brand theme and logo, custom Wordpress theme, and continuing enhancements. I also manage the site's analytics (which I am constantly reviewing), advertising, and reader interaction.
- Interface Design7. Make Paper Easy
Project Center is a small website with the purpose of informing potential clients of Project Center's services. The website's goal is attract new clients and have them contact the company.I used the client's existing code and redesigned the interface. This redesign brought important CTAs and transactional items to the forefront of the design, resulting in more form submissions and phone calls to the business. The site experienced a 13% increase in organic traffic from Google after I designed and applied a small SEO solution.
The site is enhanced with the Prototype / MooTools JavaScripts frameworks and a simple PHP form.
- Web Design8. Latin Percussion
LPMusic.com is the flagship site of Latin Percussion. The site consists of 1,000+ pages and 10,000 files. I was contracted to build a scalable HTML templates and CSS files for each section. These were coded to the client's specification so they could use them with minimal training to complete ongoing updates and maintenance after the project's completion. In addition to production and providing strategy, I also managed the entire project. This involved setting milestones, considering budgets, and managing online collaboration. The client was extremely happy with the end result, which was completed before its deadline and on budget. This was the first of several projects I've worked on for LP.
- Graphic Design9.Insight HTML Emails
As a designer for Insight, I churned out several HTML emails each week. This typically involved creating a theme that tied into Insight's brand and the purpose of the email. Calls-to-action were also strategically placed throughout the email. Results of email performance were analyzed and quantified at least once a week. The emails I designed consistently performed in the top half of the total emails for open rates and click-throughs. This put almost all of them above industry standards in these two categories.
