Velvet Revolver at PNC Center: (5.21.05)

Velvet Revolver So I went to see Velvet Revolver at PNC Center in Homdel, NJ. This is by far my favorite venue to tailgate at. I went with my brother Steve, Josh, Justin, Steve Pasq. Brain, Scott and Jeff. We got there nice and early, about 5. Ate, drank and threw a frisbee and football around for a few hours. The weather held out and was only overcast, no rain. By the time we went in, we had quite the impressive mountain of empty beer cans and bottles. We missed both opening acts (one of which was Hoobastank), no one cared.

So Velvet Reolver is a pretty mainstream band. Granted, we had oretty good seats, but they were $80 a piece! Jeez. Well, we bit the bullet and just paid, rather than trying to trade down. Since we had seats, we didn't have to worry about vying for position. We took our time getting to our seats. Velvet Revolver also seemed to attract a lot of dudes. They were invading the female bathroom. Not too long after we sat down, Velvet Revolver came on.

Velvet Revolver Now I had been reading about their shows and their setlists. they put on a very good show, but I have seen they play the same exact show almost always. Same songs, same order, same length. So I knew exactly what to expect once they started playing. This took away from the concert. They also didn't do too many variations of their songs in live concerts. But Duff, Slash and Dave darted back and forth across the stage the whole time, rarely staying still for more than a few seconds. And Scott buzzed about the stage like a caged animal. He danced and shook during all the songs except "Wish You Were Here", when he just chilled on a stool. Scott also came out into the crowd during "Sex Type Thing", whom hoisted him above their shoulders. Apparently, some guy got in his face. Scott just kept his cool, but ranted about how much of an idiot he was for about a minute. Slash doned his double-guitar for "Wish You Were Here" and "You Got No Right". A great version of YGNR!

Had a great time, thoroughly worn out since it turned out to be a seven hour event for us. And it was quick and easy getting out of PNC, as always.
